From the moment I picked up Little Women, I have been an avid reader of fiction and an aspiring author.

Then I grew up, and life got busy. I juggled my role as a stay-at-home mother with my part-time career as an award-winning journalist and editor, mostly in the not-for-profit sector.

But it’s true. Every journalist wants to write a book.

So after two decades of telling other people’s stories and living in New Zealand, the UK and Canada before returning to Brisbane, I joined the Romance Writers of Australia. I knuckled down to getting words on the page and learning the craft of writing fiction.

The stories that drive me are about strong female characters who step outside the boundaries, and the strong men who stand alongside them. About resilient families facing challenges big and small, and about the power of love to reconcile and bring us joy.
